Built to handle heavy industrial loads, this 600-amp PowerPacT MCCB incorporates a solid-state trip unit for precise long-time and instantaneous response. The electronic sensing mechanism provides superior coordination capabilities compared to traditional thermal-magnetic alternatives. Designed specifically for Square D I-Line panelboards, this model easily replaces legacy MA36600 units in existing infrastructure. It features a 35kAIC rating at 480V, Visi-Trip indication, and HACR certification.
This circuit breaker features an I-Line style plug-on connection designed exclusively for Square D and Schneider Electric I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It will not fit in standard unit-mount enclosures or competitor panels.
Which older Square D circuit breaker does this model replace?
The MGA36600 is the modern PowerPacT M-frame replacement for the obsolete legacy MA-frame MA36600 circuit breaker. It drops directly into existing 600A I-Line panel spaces.
Is the MGA36600 circuit breaker 80 percent or 100 percent rated?
This standard model is 80 percent continuous current rated. Applications requiring a 100 percent continuous rating necessitate a different catalog number suffix.
How does the ET 1.0 electronic trip unit function compared to traditional models?
The basic ET 1.0 solid-state trip unit acts as a precise equivalent to traditional thermal-magnetic breakers. While it provides electronic long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection, the long-time trip point is fixed and cannot be field adjusted.
How are the line and load connections configured?
The line side uses an integrated I-Line bracket for direct plug-on phase connections to the panel bus. The load side comes equipped with mechanical lugs accepting up to three 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum or copper cables per phase.
Does the M-frame breaker include a mechanical testing feature?
Yes, it includes a manual push-to-trip button on the front cover. This allows qualified personnel to manually exercise the operating mechanism and verify proper mechanical function during maintenance.
Can this 3-pole circuit breaker be used for 2-pole applications?
Yes, manufacturer documentation states that 3-pole PowerPacT circuit breakers equipped with this electronic trip unit can be safely utilized in 2-pole configurations when necessary.
What is the phase connection arrangement for this I-Line breaker?
This standard 3-pole model features an ABC phase connection, meaning its line-side jaw bracket is factory configured to plug into all three phases (A, B, and C) of the I-Line bus.
