EPD stands for Equipment Protection Device. This breaker provides ground fault protection with a 30mA trip threshold, which is designed to protect equipment like heat trace cables or well pumps rather than providing Class A personnel protection.
Which panelboards and load centers are compatible with this breaker?
The QO225EPD is designed for use in Square D QO load centers, as well as NQ and NQOD panelboards. It features a plug-on mounting style and requires two standard 3/4-inch spaces. It is not compatible with Homeline panels.
How is the pigtail neutral installed on this breaker?
The attached white pigtail wire must be connected directly to the neutral bus bar in the panel. This connection is required to power the internal ground fault circuitry, even if the 240V load does not require a neutral wire.
Can this breaker be used on a straight 240V circuit without a load neutral?
Yes, it can protect a 240V load that does not use a neutral wire. However, the breaker's pigtail neutral must still be connected to the panel neutral bar to operate the internal ground fault sensor.
Can I use the QO225EPD in place of a QOB225EPD?
No. The QO225EPD uses a plug-on mounting mechanism, while the QOB225EPD is a bolt-on breaker. You must verify whether your panel requires plug-on or bolt-on connections before installation.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
