Built for commercial and industrial applications, the Square D QO230EPD provides reliable 30mA equipment protection (GFEP). This 30-amp, two-pole breaker prevents equipment damage from low-level ground faults without nuisance tripping on machinery. The plug-on design installs seamlessly into Square D QO load centers, as well as NQ and NQOD panelboards. The QO230EPD is an Equipment Protection Device (GFEP) that trips at a 30 mA ground fault threshold. Standard GFI breakers (Class A) trip at a highly sensitive 5 mA threshold for personnel protection. EPD breakers are designed to protect equipment like well pumps and snow-melting cables from damage without causing nuisance tripping.
Does this breaker require a separate neutral wire connection?
Yes. This specific model features a pigtail neutral connection. The attached coiled white wire must be manually landed on the neutral bar in your panelboard. It is not a plug-on neutral (PoN) breaker, so it will not connect to the neutral bar directly through the mounting clip.
Can I install the QO230EPD in a Square D Homeline load center?
No. QO series breakers are exclusively compatible with QO load centers, NQ panelboards, and legacy NQOD panelboards. They feature a 0.75-inch per pole width and will not physically fit into Homeline panels, which utilize a 1-inch breaker format.
How much panel space is required to mount this breaker?
As a 2-pole QO breaker, it requires two standard 0.75-inch spaces on the panel busbar, taking up 1.5 inches of total width.
What does the LIG trip function mean on this breaker?
The LIG designation indicates that this thermal-magnetic breaker provides Long-Time protection for standard overloads, Instantaneous protection for sudden short circuits, and Ground-Fault sensing to protect connected equipment from electrical leakage.

Expedited Shipments
