ABB / General Electric THQL2130GFT GFCI Miniature Circuit Breaker

This breaker uses a standard pigtail neutral connection. It is not a plug-on neutral breaker, so the coiled white pigtail wire must be connected directly to the panel neutral bus bar during installation.

It is designed exclusively for use in General Electric Q-Line and GE PowerMark Gold load centers. You should not install this breaker in panels from other manufacturers, as doing so violates UL listings and NEC standards.

The THQL2130GFT is the direct replacement for the discontinued THQL2130GF. The T suffix designates that the newer model includes an automatic self-test feature, which periodically checks the internal ground-fault circuitry to ensure continuous protection.

A 30-amp, 2-pole GFCI breaker is typically used for 240V circuits operating in damp or wet locations. Common applications include hot tubs, spas, pool heaters, and heavy-duty shop equipment where ground-fault protection is mandated by the National Electrical Code.

The terminals will accommodate copper wire ranging from 14 to 8 AWG and aluminum wire from 12 to 8 AWG. Always verify that your wire gauge is appropriate for a 30-amp circuit based on the length of the run and the specific load.

As a standard Q-Line 2-pole breaker, it requires two adjacent 1-inch spaces on the panel bus. It is a full-size THQL frame, not a half-size THQP breaker.

LIG stands for Long-Time, Instantaneous, and Ground Fault. This means the breaker provides three levels of protection. It uses thermal technology for sustained overloads, magnetic protection for sudden short circuits, and a specialized sensor to detect leakage currents to ground.

The breaker automatically performs a routine internal test to verify that the ground-fault protection is functioning properly. If the self-test detects a failure in the protective circuitry, the breaker will trip and prevent power from being restored, indicating it needs to be replaced.
