This breaker is designed for use in Eaton Type BR load centers. It is also backward compatible with legacy Bryant, Westinghouse, and Challenger panels that accept Type BR breakers.
How many panel spaces does the BRH240 require?
As a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker, it requires two standard 1-inch spaces in a Type BR load center.
What is the difference between the BR240 and the BRH240?
Both are 40A, 2-pole breakers that fit Type BR panels. The BRH240 features a higher interrupting rating of 22kAIC, whereas the standard BR240 is rated for 10kAIC. The BRH240 is required in systems with higher available fault current.
Can I install the BRH240 in a system that only requires a 10kAIC rating?
Yes. The 22kAIC rating exceeds the 10kAIC requirement, making it perfectly safe and code compliant to use in systems with lower available fault current.
Is the BRH240 suitable for HVAC equipment?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated, making it approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that requires a 40A overcurrent protection device.
What wire types are approved for the box lugs on this breaker?
The terminals accept 14 to 4 AWG copper or aluminum conductors. When terminating aluminum wire, it is recommended to use an approved joint compound or oxide inhibitor to prevent corrosion.
Does the BRH240 replace older Bryant or Westinghouse high-interrupting breakers?
Yes, Eaton acquired the Bryant and Westinghouse lines. The BRH240 is the direct, UL listed replacement for legacy 40A, 2-pole, 22kAIC breakers from those brands that share the Type BR frame.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
