What is the difference between the Eaton BW2175 and BWH2175?
Both are 175A, 2-pole main breakers for BR load centers. The BW2175 has a standard 10kAIC interrupting rating, while the BWH2175 provides a higher 25kAIC rating for systems with higher available fault current.
What wire sizes are accepted by the BW2175 terminals?
The breaker lugs accept copper or aluminum conductors ranging from 2 AWG to 300 kcmil. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation.
Can the BW2175 replace older Cutler-Hammer main breakers?
Yes. Eaton acquired Cutler-Hammer, and the modern Eaton BW2175 is the direct replacement for legacy Cutler-Hammer BW2175 main breakers.
Can I use the BW2175 in a 3-phase electrical panel?
No. The BW2175 is a 2-pole breaker designed exclusively for single-phase, 120/240V AC systems. It will not fit or operate correctly in a 3-phase load center.
Are the trip settings on the BW2175 adjustable?
No. The breaker features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. It provides standard long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection and does not have adjustable dials for field calibration.
Does the BW2175 provide GFCI or AFCI protection?
No. The BW2175 is a standard thermal-magnetic main breaker. It does not include ground fault (GFCI) or arc fault (AFCI) protection circuitry.

Expedited Shipments
