8 answersWhat panelboards are compatible with the THQB1160?
The THQB1160 is a bolt-on circuit breaker designed for use in GE A-Series panelboards and GE AQ lighting panels. It is not compatible with standard GE PowerMark load centers, which require plug-in THQL or THQP breakers.
Can I use a THQB1160 in place of a THQL1160?
No. While both are 60A, 1-pole GE breakers, the THQB1160 is a bolt-on breaker for commercial panelboards. The THQL1160 is a plug-in breaker designed for residential load centers. They have different mounting configurations and are not interchangeable.
What is the recommended lug torque for the THQB1160?
The box lug tightening torque depends on the wire size used. The manufacturer specifies 40 in-lb for 8 AWG wire, 45 in-lb for 6 to 4 AWG wire, and 50 in-lb for 3 AWG wire.
Is the ABB THQB1160 the same as the GE THQB1160?
Yes. ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions in 2018. The THQB1160 is the exact same Q-Line circuit breaker, manufactured to the same specifications, and may carry either GE or ABB branding.
Is the THQB1160 HACR rated?
Yes, this breaker is UL listed for HACR (Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) applications, making it suitable for protecting HVAC equipment circuits.
Is the THQB1160 SWD rated for switching fluorescent lights?
No. Switching Duty (SWD) ratings for fluorescent lighting loads are only applied to 15A and 20A circuit breakers. As a 60A breaker, the THQB1160 does not carry an SWD rating.
Does the THQB1160 provide GFCI or AFCI protection?
No, the standard THQB1160 provides only thermal-magnetic overload and short-circuit protection. It does not include Ground Fault (GFCI) or Arc Fault (AFCI) circuitry.
What is the difference between the THQB1160 and the THHQB1160?
The THQB1160 has a standard interrupting rating of 10kAIC at 120/240VAC. The THHQB1160 is the high-interrupting version, rated for 22kAIC at 120/240VAC. Both share the same physical dimensions and bolt-on mounting style.

Expedited Shipments
