Product FAQs

6 answers
Which panelboards accept the THQB2160ST1 circuit breaker?

This bolt-on Q-Line breaker is designed specifically for GE A-Series panelboards, GE AQ lighting panels, and ABB ReliaGear RQ panelboards. It will not fit standard residential plug-on load centers.

What functionality does the ST1 suffix add to this breaker?

The ST1 suffix designates a factory-installed 120V shunt trip mechanism. This allows the breaker to be tripped remotely via an external control signal, which is frequently required for emergency shutdown systems or fire alarm integration.

How does the bolt-on connection differ from standard plug-on breakers?

The THQB frame fastens directly to the panelboard bus using screws rather than stabbing onto the bus. This provides a secure, vibration-resistant connection that is standard for commercial and industrial lighting panels.

Can I substitute a THQL plug-on breaker with this THQB bolt-on breaker?

No. While they share similar electrical ratings within the Q-Line family, THQL breakers are plug-on and THQB breakers are bolt-on. The panelboard bus design dictates which mounting style is required.

Is there a difference between the ABB and GE versions of the THQB2160ST1?

No. Following ABB's acquisition of GE Industrial Solutions, the Q-Line breaker family continued under the same catalog numbers. The breaker maintains identical form, fit, and function regardless of whether the label reads GE or ABB.

How is the 120V shunt trip wired for remote operation?

The shunt trip coil requires an external 120V control voltage source. When the control circuit is closed by a remote switch or relay, the coil energizes and mechanically trips the breaker to open the primary circuit.
