This bolt-on breaker is engineered for GE and ABB A-Series panelboards. It is most commonly installed in AQ panelboards used for 208Y/120V and 120/240V distribution systems.
Can the THQB2180 be installed in standard GE residential load centers?
No. This unit features a bolt-on mounting design for commercial panelboards. It will not fit into standard GE load centers, which require plug-on Q-Line breakers like the THQL series.
Is there a 22kAIC version available for higher fault-current systems?
Yes. While the standard THQB2180 has a 10kAIC rating, applications requiring a 22kAIC interrupting capacity at 120/240VAC can use the direct heavy-duty equivalent, catalog number THHQB2180.
Are there special termination requirements when using aluminum wire?
Yes. When connecting 4 to 1/0 AWG aluminum conductors to the box lugs, installers should wire-brush the exposed conductor and apply an approved oxide-inhibiting compound before tightening to prevent corrosion and ensure a reliable connection.
